Hey! I'm not sure if this is in the right section of the forums, I hope it is but if it isn't.. please move it to where it should be xD So, I've been trying to figure out some things I've been wanting to do and gain the skills to do them. For example I've always wanted to be around horses more, so I signed up at one of the stables here and I'm currently going for lessons ^^ So another thing I've been wanting to do is art. I have a sketchbook somewhere in the house that I'll be trying to find, and I've dabbled on ibis paint x on my phone. I can't say I'm good, especially because that was kind of just goofing around for like two minutes xD Anyways I don't want to ramble endlessly, is there anyone here that would be willing to help? I'm absolutely at the very beginning, and I'm going to figure out if there's anyone in person that would be willing to help as well, but I know there's some really good artists here so I figured I'd ask ❤ Honestly anything from how you got started yourself, or whatever tips you have to offer, anything is amazing! Physical or digital art, either or and both is great. Thank you everyone <3

Patience is always going to be key. You won't be perfect on your first try, or maybe even your 30th try. Practice, practice, practice. Nobody even REMEMBERS my first art because it was so... Just... "Meh" lol . That being said, it's also okay to ask for tips anytime. My inbox is open. I don't really do step by step tutorials, though, so that people can develop their own style and learn what makes their art, theirs. :) . Editing to make sure you know it's Versa. Hey! Ive done digital art for 4 years now and traditional for like... 12-ish years? So im always happy to help! I love answering questions lol The best thing to do is just draw. A LOT. it doesn't have to be good, it just has to be yours ;3 And i highly reccomend watching SamDoesArts, hes been SO helpful for me 🫶 the way he explains things really just makes it click in my experience:3 (KPH on a side account lol) Edited at March 10, 2026 05:56 PM by Bug in a Rug

Oooh yay I'm so happy to see someone getting into art!!!! My biggest piece of advice is DRAW. It does NOT need to be perfect, you just need to get it down. Draw whenever you can, with whatever you can, and draw a variety of things. . I'm a big perfectionist so I usually wont draw because I'm scared it's going to look "bad". That is like the worst thing you could do LOL, just get out there and make stuff!!!! . I personally don't use any "methods" for drawing, I just kind of look and do, and I've gotten better after years and years of practice. If you're looking for tips to get "good" (like you want "assignments" or smt), I'd recommend doing quick gesture studies just focusing on proportions. After that, stuff about values (how? Idk man I've never done value studies LOL). . I can't wait to see what you make! I'd love to see your journey in art! Edited at March 10, 2026 10:34 PM by Sagebrush

I think I might be a perfectionist too lol I could make a gallery going over whatever I'm trying to draw? I dunno if anyone would want to see that, it's absolutely not gonna start off amazing xD I'll probably also have to get my ipad working again sometime, and figure out how to use ibis paint more effectively so I can try digital art :P
