What does everyone use/recommend for standalone art tablets? I have a lot of downtime at my job, and would love to be working on art in that time, but I can’t just bring my pen tablet and plug it in to the work computer. From the bit of research that I’ve done, all signs seem to point to an ipad pro. I haven’t used an apple product in 10+ years, but if it’s unquestionably the best option, then I’d be willing to give it a shot. I’d also want to steer clear of anything with generative AI programmed into it if possible - hard to come by these days, unfortunately. Budget isn’t too big of a concern since I won’t be buying one immediately, I can save up if needed- but if there’s anything more pricey than an ipad pro, it’s probably more elaborate than I need right now anyway. Thanks in advance!

I personally use a microsoft surface pro 11! It's a 2-in-1 tablet and laptop, so I don't have to have a device JUST for art :3 I've had it for 9 months now and absolutely love it<3

I use an iPad pro (with the pencil) and definitley recommend it. Previously I used wacom tablets, but this is convenient and personally I find it much easier to zoom and see details with my iPad. I use procreate there and then drop my work onto my desktop to finish/edit/resize and export it with Photoshop. No complaints here!

I use an iPad Pro and have to say that I personally love it, for both art and school. With a keyboard add-on it's so worth it for a lot of things too. I started art on an iPad mini and would not recommend that lol. Definitely do some in person research to see what tablets catch your fancy, cause user-interface is super important for a lot of people especially with art programs and testing how powerful the tablet is.

I have a Samsung galaxy tablet with an S pen. Works great and I prefer it to my old Wacom, so you may not be limited to apple just depends on your budget

I have a regular iPad (don't think it's a pro or anything) and then I use a knockoff pen I got from Amazon for $15 😂 (with procreate) . Before August, I used a ten year old iPad Mini and my fingers

Wow Sage, I can't imagine doing art at your level with just a finger! Makes it that much more impressive! . Thanks for the great suggestions, everyone! I will continue my research on all of these options! . Edit: Still Tano/Kaldwin, didn't realize I was on my side account lol Edited at October 30, 2025 01:04 PM by Sylvan Lake Stables
