I'm an artist and have been my whole life. I'm one of the older players around here I would imagine—I actually started playng horse games back on the original HorseLand before they even had photos! I've been drawing and painting horses since the early '90s, and I'm also a professional artist, I typically create traditional art, but I am dabbling in digital now as well.

When I create equine art, I usually have the breed, color/pattern, and pose already in mind. Most of what I draw comes straight from my imagination. Occasionally, I’ll use small bits of reference (like checking how a certain muscle flexes during a stride or the angle of a hoof). When I do this, I often pull from multiple photos, and the reference is usually very minimal or generalized; you truly wouldn’t be able to tell which photo it came from.

It’s my understanding that when references are used this way (lightly and for general anatomy) you don’t typically need to credit each one. But I want to make sure I’m respecting the rules and the community standards here.

What’s the general policy on this site when it comes to using references in this way? I’d love to share my art but don’t want to get in trouble.
