Hi Everyone!

I am having a really hard time exporting from Photoshop and keeping the quality (due to size).
My current routine is do my Horse avatars on 1000x1000, export as a PNG and then place on a 500x500 Canvas that is 300-400 Res.
For the life of me when i go to export as JPG i have to knock the quality to 5-4 (4 only sometimes) and it really ruins the art...

I really need help, i want to give my clients the image quality they pay for and its been impossible for me...

Thank you!

I don't use photoshop, however I've found that working on an even larger canvas helps me more. So I typically work on a 2500x2000. Making the horse a little smaller on the image etc (you'll know what I mean when you see my art), I then go back in and resize as 500x500, use the sharper tool, export it then use a compress tool online. But that's for ibispaint X. I'm not familiar with photoshop. Is there anything on there like I've said above that you can try?

Hey!
Here is the piece in question: https://www.deviantart.com/aestheticcitii/art/Whiskey-Horse-Avatar-for-Golden-Crest-972994509

I can definitely try that, what compressing tool do you recommened? I tried one that someone told me about a long time ago and it made it all grainy and almost GIF like...

I know with photoshop it doesnt actually get rid of the rest of the imagine once you have placed it. So technically the full BG image does still exist.

I use Affinity Photo, which is really similar to Photoshop in most aspects.
I work on a 1000x1000 canvas for horse avatars.
When I am done with a piece, I click on the Export option, which is under "File" on my software, it allows me to resize to 500x500 during the export process. This is what helps retain a lot of quality vs exporting the full size, then placing on a smaller canvas.
Also, my software has an option for whats called "Resample" in the export screen. I always choose Lanczos 3 (non-seperable) as it retains the most quality compared to the other Resample options.

Hey!
I think this is fairly similar to what I do already :) although I did try doing a extra compression on a online compressor and it did help!
Hopefully doing this will help keep my quality:)
