Oooh it’s super pretty! I love the white marking and the eye, really striking

Yeah I dug it out from the depths of Adobe. But I suppose I can show it if I'm just going to stash it.

It was my first attempt at messing with white markings and I kinda really like the fur.

Yeah, same except I mostly use Adobe… I guess it might be a bit awkward if you’ve used the same horse and background together but (personally) I don’t see a problem with that. Unless someone has bought sole rights to an image (unlikely and not an option through Adobe!) they’ve no recourse

Fair play! You could always post it in the future 😊 Although now I’m curious to see it!

I basically only ever pull stock from Colourize-Stock and DancesWithPonies, so I'm convinced all of my horse stock has been used before xD but I get what you mean, it does make it a little awkward when they're directly next to each other in the forum

Naw, it was just a "f*ck around and find out" piece so I think I'll leave it. I don't wanna be that person.

Definitely still post it! There's only so much stock in the world, and I'm sure your style is still unique enough to be different :)

If it were me, I’d still post it - such is the way of stock images that you’re bound to get people using the same combos! If you’re worried you could add in when you started the piece into the description for your auction

Oh man this is awkward. I *just* finished an art piece and was about to put it up for auction... only to find someone posted one earlier today with the exact same stock. Now I don't know what to do with it...

Ooh yes! I have Tiolacadh, Candyland (EEE-E Wonka baby) and Tio's first filly (but she had a mediocre w4) who are all grey, hoping I can at least get a couple of decent grey broods

I'll have to see if Nayru will give me a nice grey this RO.
Arctic is great for greys but his int is horrible.

The temptation to hoard grey capture tokens for next Capture Day is incredibly strong, I just wish we could use a token and a map together

I have an art question. How are the mane and tail "move" in a piece like this? I'm very new to hand painting my own manes and tails and would like some tips on how to make the "shapes" of the manes and tails, and other tips would be nice too :D

There's no like hard and fast rules, and I'm def not an expert - it usually takes me quite a few tries of blocking out shapes to get movement to look right.

What I would say though is generally avoid straight lines, keep things curvy! Also look at the stride of the horse, in this case its sort of landing, so coming down in stride, so air would be pushing up against the hair. There's tons of different ways to take that but I'd say try and flick the end third (or more) of the hairs upward to give the impression that they are still falling if that makes sense.

Manes I find quite difficult to shape but personally for this I'd go with it all being elevated off the horses neck sticking upwards (shown in red. If so I'd to shade the part closer to the neck darker - gives the impression its not sticking straight up but the ends are facing towards you a bit. But you could also have it coming down the horses neck but flicking up at the ends (green) or if you wanna be extra fancy have it blown almost against the neck (blue).

Tails are a little easier for me, I usually think about how the dock (bone of the tail) usually is elevated when running and so sticks out from the body and is a bit more rigid, while the rest of the hair will flow with the motion. You could go in any direction you wanted but I quite like having an almost double C shape (see the pic) cause it shows movement nicely.

Hopefully some of that made sense lol - Its how my brain works anyways. Also pls ignore the terrible hair scribbles!
