I don't, like, understand why'd they would do that (match race) in general. Like, she was just as good as any other racehorse, despite being seen as "less than" in that era. Then again, I don't understand match races in general.

I am not to good at art but if I where you push your light colors. it looks Dark...I like it your art is always amazing you should never let someone harsh words let you down you have raw talent!

It looks good! However, the lining is very monoline and could use some tapering, and the hair seems to lack flow (Adding strands that separate from the main chunk of hair helps!) Also, it's off putting that the mane is flowing and the tail isn't.
However, I love the detailing (Dun markings, lineart, individual strands) and the background! ^^

Thank you. I'm quite bothered by the tail as well. I'm fixing it at the moment.

Use a smaller brush for the ends of the mane and tail. A real horses mane doesn't end in triangles (although that would be kinda cool). The background also lacks depth, maybe try adding a tree or two and some clouds, both casting shadows according to where the light is coming from. :)

Honestly I love this. I completely agree with what Dreamspire and Starry said. Add more flow to the mane and tail, and the tail needs to be off to one side from the wind blowing it because it doesn't only blow a mane

The area between the mane and forelock/underneath the eye still looks too dark. You did a good job on the muzzle, but the cheek should be highlighted too, especially since it's at a similar angle to the places you highlighted on the legs. Neither the mane or forelock should be casting that much shadow.
