For someone that just joined yesterday, reading the guide would still be a good thing.

Since you're new, I wouldn't worry about that just yet. For the time being, have fun poking around the game and figuring out where everything's at.

Hey guys,
So I did a lot of art about a year ago and the one thing I found really hard/what I wasnt able to fix was blury images when I down scaled them and I was wondering how some of the big artists fixed this?
It was normally the horse that looked fine in its original horse, but the minute I made the image smaller to fit the 500×500 it would just go wrong. And the banners would look even worse.
Any help is much appreciate

(And any tricks not related are helpful too)

What size is the original art?
What do you use to resize

I use gimp and resize it on there. The size of the photos are what ever the stock size is. More than 1000x1000 sometimes. Ive seen the same stock used by professionals but theirs somehow doesnt get ruined by the scaling down

I’d recommend using a 1000 x 1000 canvas to start with. You can easily fit the stock nicely into that.
When scaling and uploading the image from GIMP, I’ll scale it down to 500x500 first and then use the “Export As” link instead of “Save As”. I make sure the file is a JPG and then use the quality scale to get my file size right. This normally doesn’t ruin the quality and I only take the file size down to about 90kb for horse avis.

I hope this helps!

The sharpen tool in PS is how I get my pieces looking so crisp. I work on a 1000x1000 canvas. Save the image as a jpeg, open up the jpeg and then resize, sharpen and then slap on credits etc.

Hope this helps :)

By good text do you mean fonts? If so, download your fonts from https://DaFont.com It's a great resource. Make sure the font is either 100% free or free for personal use though.

To make a text avatar in gimp, start off by creating a new canvas that is 300 x 300 and transparent. Type out the desired text and orient it how you would like. Then create a new transparent layer behind the current text layer, and alpha select the text layer (do this by right clicking on the layer in the layer menu, and you'll see an 'alpha to selection' option). Your text should be selected, so go to Select > Grow and grow it by a few pixels. Then paint bucket fill the desired border color you would like to be around the text. Deselect everything, add credits, and wham. Export it as a png then you're done :)
If you would like a more in depth explanation on how to use images as text and such and how to do fancier symbols, PM me and I'll do my best to explain it lol. Hope this helps!
