Right now I am just going to do as I am told and let them handle the stuff I am not allowed to do anymore. See how much longer it takes them and what doesn't get done. Let them see I am not the issue.

Realistically, I just don't think some people want others there, was more my point. And will constantly bend and morph rules to try and make you miserable.

Del,
Well, she was whiny in general, too. I was too small to pick up a german shepherd safely and refused, suddenly it was passed off as "refusing work."

Amongst other things.

One time she snapped at me for "snarking" at her when I said, in a polite tone, "alright, I understand" to something she explained.

Thats such an odd reason to fire someone lol

If thats truly how it is there, then I would start looking for a new position. Working in an environment where you have to constantly second guess yourself is stressful. Not good for the mental :)

My prior internship I got "fired" from. Why? An older lady who was overseeing me and all of my daily activities dropped a can of treats on the floor. She looked really in pain when she bent over to pick them up, so I offered to help.

She looked like I just screamed an insult at her...

But like I said there is always two workers and we do it all together. The main person I work with and do everything with is the Manager, which is the owners second in command

Sometimes people will explain how to do something one way but actually complete the task another. We dont always completely verbalize our process. There might be some unspoken rules that are at play here that you can only see if you shadow the task. Im sure this is frustrating.

Yep. That is one of the main reasons I left my last job. I worked there for almost 6 years and did everything the same way all those years which is the way I was taught and told by the owner. Then suddenly everything I was doing was wrong.

I would ask to shadow the owner or a coworker again for those tasks. Maybe a step in the task is escaping you and you don’t even realize it.

Well, the owner can't have it both ways. They can't train their employees one way, and do the same thing a different way. It's just gonna confuse, and piss off said workers. They get paid to do what they're trained to do.

Is the owner the type is person where they need to do things themselves in order for it to feel like it was done right? The issue could have nothing to do with you personally. Are there other workers there you could ask to see if there is something that you might be missing?

Smudging *Again* (And Low and High lighting) April 25, 2018 11:01 AM

Hello, so as you can see by the title I am posting for help with smudging.

So, when I smudge, I duplicate the horse layer that is cut out, put the duplicated layer on 'Overlay' then smudge that 'Layer' (duplicate layer) on about 45% Opacity. But my problem is, is that the smudging makes the horse look super dull. I mean I know it is supposed to move colors around but it makes a bay look like a brown with no shine.

Then Low and Highlighting.

I have been making a new layer over the duplicated layer, then I put that on 'Overlay', and at about idk 20-30% Opacity. Then I smudge those.

You need to smudge with a super low opacity like i use 2%-5% on a small size then do a new layer and color in white highlights, smudge them, then lower thier opacity and do the same for shadows but with black

You use GIMP, right?

When I used GIMP I'd smudge at 20% opacity and rate. For my light lights and low lights I created 2 different layers. One for heavy smudging/blending and another one for more defined highlights. I use a brush at about 2px and put the layers on Overlay and play with the opacity a bit until it looks sort of faint and not too bold.

Its hard to give out pointers without seeing your work. Like Alissa said, it'd be helpful to see a recent picture. :)

Used a Pre-cut for an example for TC but this time I used 9 pi. soft brush, 20% duplicate layer Opacity, and 2% brush hardness. Then I used dodge to add Highlights.

I think that looks pretty good. I draw on a lot of my highlights too.
