Hi! So to start this off, I'll admit, I'm not the best at art, however I did want to try my hand a digital art and manips. If you guys have any advice it is much appreciated :)

Hi!! I would say I was never good at drawing or art but I love making manips (don't have time now lol). Just make pieces as often as you can / when you feel inspired. It will look bad at first unless your super gifted but as a person who isn't arty, I eventually got the hang of it. These are a few of my oldest pieces, maybe within the first 10. But as time went on I got better until I became happy with what I produced. This is my most recent work and it actually looks nice (IMO xD) It was made many months ago now but I was so proud. Please PM me if you want anyone to look over art or chat more :) Edited at August 24, 2025 04:55 PM by Enoki Valley

Totally agree with Enoki Valley, there are going to be times when you dislike your art. For me it happens in the middle of doing a manip, but it's good to push throught that and finish the piece. At best you may like the end result, at worst it will be a learning curve. Always finish your pieces if you can! I think this goes for a lot of artists.

Hi!! Something I think matters a lot is choosing the correct program. It depends primarily on what type of device you're using and how complex you want the program to be. Some art apps (ex: Adobe Photoshop, Gimp) are super complicated to the point of unnecessary for manipulations. I'd highly recommend Ibis Paint if you're on a mobile device or I think Krita is decent on a laptop/computer. Ibis is super easy to use and it has more complex features if you need them but they're never in the way and they're usually easy to figure out. I've been using Ibis for the vast majority of my art career and I still love it. I'm also going to second what's been said above! I'm one of the most profitable artists currently active in the game (to my knowledge) and I still have pieces that I hate half way through. Just ask my boyfriend, he endures all of my griping LOL. Sometimes it's a major struggle to force yourself to finish things but still try to avoid the habit of procrastination. I'm always super excited to see new artists in the game so I wish you the best of luck!!! Don't hesitate to reach out if there's ever anything I can help with <3 . (Also, there is a forum of Oldest vs Newest art pieces that's super fun to check out!) Edited at August 25, 2025 07:51 PM by Gem

Tutorials and time!! I've never taken a 'formal' art class, much less a digital one, so that's definitely not needed, just practice, practice practice <3
