Chey but alas, true, I’ve lost my turkey hen, my mother duck sitting, and one other duck now (past few days). So everyone gets locked in. But that heifer climbed out with fully clipped wings.

No. lol. I used to work in a meat processing plant. We had layers upon layers. A cotton glove. A cut resistant glove. A chainmail glove. And a nitrile glove. Our sleeves were supposed to be trapped under the gloves. Or we used plastic sleeves over it all to keep them in place.

So, I've been thinking of getting PS or a tablet (or both) recently and I've realized that I know absolutely nothing about either, how they work together, or what to look for. I've been going at it for a little over a year now with my trusty mouse and GIMP and I think it's time to spice things up a bit, so I'm hoping someone who knows about how to use these can explain how it works and all to me? Thank you!

Woooo! Glad to see you're upgrading <3

A tablet is the digital artist's best friend. The current industry leader is inarguably Wacom. I myself have an Intuos Pro that is just the bomb diggity. The tablet is a device that essentially allows you to draw on your screen. You draw on the surface of the tablet, like you would a piece of paper, and the movements show up on your computer screen. You also use the pen like you would a mouse to click or right click and maneuver the cursor. Wacom offers a variety of models to fit different needs. I love my pro, but it was a big investment as I use it for more than just HEE art. If you're just starting out and want to get a feel for tablets, I suggest poking around Wacom's website and see what they have to offer that you feel will best suit your needs. Their products are top quality and Wacom is AWESOME at keeping their drivers updated so their products can continue use well past their original purchase date. In other words, you won't have to buy a new one ever if your old one still functions.

The way it works in conjunction with photoshop is, depending on the sophistication of your tablet, it will respond to your hand pressure and gestures to closely mimic real life drawing. It responds to natural subtleties and automatically adjusts the brush settings to suit. Every tablet is different though and there will be an adjustment period as you learn how your tablet responds, but once you get the hang of it you will really love it.
