What do people use to make their avatars in a circle?

Hey! If you mean the ones like mine, the image is cropped to a circle and saved as a png with transparent background :) (at least that's my approach lol)

I use the shape tool (which should be available on most apps) and create the circle. After that, I put the image I want inside of it above it (above as in the layers) and switch it to clipping mask. You also need to make sure the "background" layer is turned off or erased so that everything behind your circle is transparent. Here's a quick visual representation of what I am saying and what it looks like!
