So I really have been wanting to get back into doing manips and digital painting on here, but my art app is no longer supported on my computer. Due that I have been forced to start learning how to do my art on my phone instead. I have an iPhone 8, so not all the newer art apps are supposed here. I have found that iBis paint (or whatever it's called) is the closest to any art apps I had previously used on my computer. Does anyone have any advice on how to maintain the quality of images when doing digital on a phone, or have any tips in general gettings used to mobile?

Hi! Ibis Paint X on my iPhone was actually how I started in digital art. There shouldn't be any reduction in quality just becuase you're doing art on a mobile device as opposed to a pc so long as your canvas is an appropriate size (meaning that you don't have to reduce quality/size drastically in order to fit HEE dimensions). For example, don't do all of your art on a 3000x5000 px canvas, try to keep it less than 2000x1500ish haha!
I would also say you could try to find a decent non-bluetooth stylus so that your hand doesn't cramp up after long periods of drawing with your finger? Just something to hold as a pencil that may feel a bit more natural.

#1 Large canvases: 1000-4000 in size. Any higher might cause you to need to compress the image which will ruin the qaulity.
#2 When making cuts- to keep from ruining image quality when converting to smaller canvases > Open a new blank canvas in Ibis using the specified size 300x300, 669x150, etc. > Then upload your art to the blank canvas and fit the picture how you like it. DO NOT manually resize the original picture. It will destroy the quality of your work!
#3 Use Simple Image Resizer to resize the images once again to confirm that the cuts will fit HEE sizing standards. This is one of the few resizing sites that I have used that doesn't ruin the quality.
#4 The chalk brush on 40-50% opacity is AMAZING for smudging without taking away details.
#5 In the event, that you HAVE to make the image smaller always try saving your art as a JPG instead of a PNG.
#6 I recommend googling free brushes for ibis: hair, enviromental elements, etc. The default brushes are fine but customized brushes make a huge difference.

I paint with my finger.. It's not the most efficient way to paint on any device but, it gives me more precision than using a pencil on my tiny phone screen. It also feels more comfortable in my opinion.

If you need any further help feel free to pm me. :) I hope this helped!

This! I started my HEE art journey on my phone on IbisPaint also.
I used to work on (still do but i use ipad now) 2500x2000 but i wouldnt go any larger than that. But because of the compressor I use, I lost little to no detailing (happy to send a link to the compressor).
So you shouldnt have any problems with Ibis and quality on mobile.
