I don't really think an SD straw thread would be worth your time. As far as I know, most people do LCs. I don't even do one for my top ABLB boy :')

Question About Crediting Palettes February 5, 2026 07:01 AM

A little while ago, I was 'reported' for not having a sufficiently credited palette, and ever since I've made sure that every palette I make, both for myself or for others, has all the credits visible and/or accessable to everyone.
Yet I can click on almost any player's stable and find a palette with no discernable credits.
So what is actually the rule on this? Is it just not being checked?

You can credit in your bio or on the palette itself from memory

I believe what Goats said is true as palettes can be wonky to view.

It just seems like a lot of people don't put the credits anywhere? Even when I was told to credit my palettes, I wasn't told how. Sure the bio/stable info thing, but I couldn't rely on users who purchased palettes to do that, so I had to work out for myself how to put the credits within the palette. Most people don't know how to do this. When I look at palettes (that weren't made by me) I look at the about, the bio, the avi and banner, the background, even the featured horse. No mention of who made the palette, or where the background came from, or where they got the code, etc. It would also be nice if said credits could include when people 'recieve' code from others. (I've seen a lot of my own code floating in others' palettes that was not asked for.)

Palettes must be credited, the artist that makes them and sells them cannot do so without crediting them as any other artwork on HEE, because of issues with phone view and desktop view and such sometimes even different devices show screen differently - but if it cannot be done on palette itself - there need to be credentials for it in Bio. There is no requirement for codes though, just for the stock same as for all art.

Please feel free to report any stables that seem to not have the palette credited

I wouldn't mind pointing out the ones that seem to lack credits, but I fear the amount of reporting would absolutely flood the mod inbox.
I'd also like to clarify, does palette code on HEE not have the same protections as art? Those who have been following my palette journey in particular know that my projects bring a lot of new ideas to the palette space. I work long and hard on them, learning and testing and fixing, my current one moreso than most. It's incredibly disheartening when I see my own code sitting in someone else's palette. It's like someone claiming a painting I did as their own work. My code is my form of art. And to be as polite about it as possible, I can very much tell when someone has taken my code as opposed to writing it themselves. Most notable is when features that didn't exist before I intruduced them are suddenly appearing elsewhere. And without pointing any fingers, there are some palettes in particular that contain lines of code, which are crucial to my own design but entirely redundant elsewhere. It would just be nice if people could hold the same respect for others' code as they do for art.

They should give a credit to the "source" not just stock, but currently it's more of a moral question, not enforced.
You can always add a suggestion on Forums for this and see if rules get amended and that gets included.
