I agree that the light contrast between the background and the horse is off in value; the whole horse would benefit from higher contrast and darker brightness. I also think that your light source (the setting sun) is in front of the horse, and because of this, the horse would be more silhouetted than the highlights and shadows suggest.

I think it's very lovely and headed in the right direction!

I agree with Vellum.

Lighting is a HUGE thing when it comes to this sorta thing.

Luckily this is an easy fix. Just adjust the brightness and you’re all good!!

Also, I would add some more lowlights in the mane and tail, and add some darker and lighter areas where needed. Another thing I noticed is that the mane is blowing as urban there is a breeze, but the tail is almost still so I would add more flow to the tail too. :)

I think you’re definitely headed in the right direction. You could probably sell your pieces for 15-20k. :)
