Personally I think HEE is too strict with their art rules. It's why I don't make art anymore. However I do understanding needing to credit the owners, but we should be able to use Google images as long as we credit the website they come from. Just my opion though as a non artist. |

Images are owned by the person/party who has taken them. They get to decide how their used, and a lot of artists don't want pieces of their work chopped up for someone else's gain whether its for monetary or virtual gains. Let's think about it from another perspective. I know I personally wouldn't want someone chopping my horse out of pictures that I post for myself on my social media. Or chopping me out of a photo to use my horse if I had not expressed my consent. Just like if someone found a photo of you on google images and photoshopped whatever they wanted onto it, and then used it as the main image for their website. These are some images that can pop up in google image searches. Copyrighted images also commonly pop up in searches. Eve is taking the necissary steps to avoid any legal actions that can come when you steal someone else's intellectual property. Images defined as stock still have rules, but the provider shared them with the specific intent for people to use them as they can in artwork. |

I have found many people's art from DA on google with no credits so if we used that the uncredited version from google the actual person who spent sometimes hours on that photo with rules we will never get to see or know that someone wasn't following their rules. if this makes any sense at all XP |

From what I understood, you're expressing concern about how "stock" providers on dA are using google images. A couple things to think about: I always read the comments. It will sometimes give me an idea, but also it's good if someone mentions that it's a Google Image/stolen image Most of the time, I reverse check the image (I should do it all the time) Keep in mind that if its stock, it can (often) be used elsewhere Some artists like to promote their dA work on Pinterest If you notice it popping up on dA, Click the link, and see where it takes you. If it truly is stolen, dont use it, report the image, and post a comment such as, "Please do not use this image, it is stolen" And then go back to searching for stock. :) |

I can see some problems with listing reference photos. I usually use upwards of 6 reference photos for any 1 image, drawing inspiration, poses, concepts for color/shading, textures, etc. If I have 20 reference photos for a single image, listing every one on the image is going to bury the image. Do you mean direct 1:1 referencing of a single photo/image for artwork requires tagging while inspiration (getting ideas, poses, etc. from various sources) does not? Here is an example of an artwork I did 3 years ago. I hand drew this digitally, referring to several images (some of which were in-game screenshots, some of which were photographs) for an official fan-art contenst of the in-game Pegasus. The concept is obviously fan-art, but the image is inspired by several photographs (none of which are 1:1 renderings), the result is when running a Google Image Search, it will only pull up instances of itself. How would I tag this?   |
