What do you mean by prestige? Who determines that? It seems to me that some people on here consider themselves to be "influencers" and try to get other people to think as they do. Surely "popularity" should be determined purely by the number of horses of each breed in the game.

Let me ask you back: what do you mean by popularity? ISH and SH are probably the most frequent breeds in the game but they're not really popular given their rather cheap pricing compared to breeds like TB or WB. So considering Popularity, ISH are wide spread in the game yet apparently not very much searched for. While prestige also includes someones reputation or standing (in a society) - at least to my understanding of the word. And who determins prestige? Society giving a value to living beings or things. Between a WWW ISH and a WWW RID stud which one do you think would be valued more by the market? I think the RID even if the ISH was stronger but this breed is just not as much wanted as RID even though or because it's so frequent in the game. I'm definitly not trying to "influence" someone into anything (I'd actually hate being called an "influencer").
My main point was that there is a different popular or frequent or whatever breed depending on what you're breeding for. A colour breeder would be looking for different breeds than an AD breeder. And as mentioned above in SD different breeds tend to place high on the LBs than in AD so that's simply something to consider giving an overall popularity-index to the breeds.

On top of what Moony's Stable said, some breeds are more expensive because they're harder to breed in that there are less strong horses than other, more easier breeds such as SH/ISH. I'd say those two are popular (well, better stated as frequent than popular, I suppose) because there are so many of them, since it's easier to breed them (due to being able to get them from multiple different cross-breedings) and that, as I understand it, it is easier to get a high rated/ stronger horse in that breed than others as they're well-developed (and therefore less expensive since they're so expansive lol).
---
When I joined HEE, there weren't as many WB breeders and they were a lot weaker than they are now. So they weren't as popular as they are now. So that's one of the reasons that I chose to breed WBs, but I still don't see them as overly popular. Though they are not popular either in my opinion lol. So kind of in the lower middle, I suppose. They're also pricy still.
-
RID, KNN, PON are also an "underdeveloped breed" I suppose you could say. I think they're a bit harder to breed and not a lot of people breed them as far as I know (and so more expensive). And I think AA and TB would be mid-range. Oh, I forgot X, I think that'd be along with PON and the other two.
--
For quite a few years now I've been breeding solely WBs and now TBs as well, so I don't have as much knowledge on the other breeds. Just what I've noticed over the years. I think I may have gotten one wrong when it came to RID, KNN, X, PON popularity. Though I think my assessments on the breed strength and price are correct.

Oh that's smart to use the ABLB as reference. Lol can't believe that I didn't think of that considering I just looked at it the other day ago and went "wow" at the increase in the # of horses in some breeds.

Yeah it popped in my mind since it gives a fairly realistic view as to what's popular at the moment. However PON, RID and KNN are the hardest breeds to breed because of the requirements for those breeds. Since you can only get RID from RID x RID it makes it harder. PON have to be a certain height which can get tricky since a majority of the top SH boys are 17+ HH. And KNN need specific genes to be KNN rather than SH/PON which is a pain as well given they can also only be KNN x KNN

Yeah. I figured that the requirements would heavily influence it. When I saw the final #s for the ABLB breeds that you compiled I was a bit suprised. WBs really have grown, even these last few months.

WBs are definitely making a comeback on the boards that's for sure! About a year ago it was TB/AA/X dominating the boards but glad that every breed is on there now
