Memorial Garden Questions & Tips Needed November 10, 2024 12:15 PM

So I'm getting ready to buy my 1st pasture to turn into a Memorial Garden as I have a few horses ready to age out soon. I just wanted to know if there was any extra details I should know about them. I read the game guide (it's a bit vauge) & digging thru the fourms currently the only thing I learned was horses that don't have foals will be auto deleted from the game...
Main questions now are: Do I have to preplace horses into the garden before they pass? I've only had one horse age out so far - I was given a game message about it, will I then be given the option to place into the garden at that time if it's set up & ready?
Anything I should know as well before setting one up?

I'm fairly new to using a Memorial Garden myself, but I've learned the answers to a few of your questions, so here goes. 1) You cannot pre-place or pre-designate horses into the memorial; it's only available to horses that have passed. 2) Only horses that have passed due to old age can be placed; if they were free ranged, they're not eligible. 3) Any eligible horses for the garden will always be eligible; there's no time limit. 4) You can remove horses from the garden or add them back at any time. Once you create your memorial garden, you'll see a drop-down list of eligible horses to add, and at the bottom of the page will be another list for removal. Removing a horse from the garden just adds their name back to the list of eligible horses. You can also expand the garden at a later date by buying more slots (5 slots for 10k ebs), so I would recommend just starting with the smallest pasture. 5) As you said, horses that don't have offspring are auto-deleted and there's no way around that, so your favorite show gelding probably isn't going to make the cut. 6) Using a pasture for hay is only temporary, but memorials are permanent. Once a pasture has been converted to a memorial, it can't be converted back to pasture.
One thing I don't know is if horses that passed before your garden was established will be available to put in the memorial. My guess is that they probably won't be, but it's just a guess. When you find out, you'll have to come back and tell us. :)
