To get an award you have to breed better ratings than others in your comparison size stables.
It improves your chances if you have fewer low rated foals. So you can free range them before end of year to get a better score.
If you are breeding for coulors or bravery it may be disadvantagious as you tend to want to keep a foal for other characteristics.
You choose the way you want your yard to go. 🙂
