Hey guys! I wasn't sure where to post this so I figured I'd put it here. I probably should know the answer to this but I'm going to ask anyway! I do both showing and have a pasture breeding program but I'm wondering which is the better way to go. mat the moment my pasture breeding program brings in about 700k each month so I know I'll have that to fall back on but I also make a little on showing too.
I guess my question is - would I be better off ditching my PB program for the time being and buy a whole heap of gelding and show them? As they could bring in more money? And if that is the case could I get some help with showing - my brain is a little mush right now (baby brain) Edited at July 26, 2022 02:41 AM by Dark Shadows Estate

I'd keep the PB program, and buy the SD show geldings.

I second this! keep your PB going since it is easy, mindless money-making, but get atleast a 100 stall barn of SD show horses; showing AD gets tiring. I've switched most all my AD barns into SD. I find what works best is to get straight PPP geldings, train them all in xc first, because there is good stat crossover into jumping, so when they're xc schoolmasters you'll switch their training to jumping, which has decent stat crossover with dressage, and when they're jumping schoolmasters too, switch their training to dressage. They'll end up schoolmasters in all disciplines like with AD, but in my opinion it is easier to make more money since it leaves a lot of guesswork out of if they're ready to show or not, and is less time-consuming.
