Anecdotally, the stud mine is at keeps babies in mixed groups - they do have a lot more than two though. Boys are gelded around April of their first year, I believe. So you may be ok if you get one of each

Haha, hopefully the mares are in cahoots and give you a pair of fillies or colts - that would certainly make life easier 🤭 sounds like baby will be gorgeous, fingers crossed for a straightforward delivery

Hi guys, I was wondering if I could get some tips for showing. Ive read all the topics on best way to show etc but im still not making a big enough profit.
<span style="font-size: 15px;">
On Monday, I only show the horses with green, placed 8/9th in previous week, 10/11/12th in 2 weeks back and any horses 3 weeks back I also show (and then Tuesdays and Wednesdays I only show the green)

How ever this process at the end of the week only gives me around a 30k profit, and with my 140k rider cost, it means Im pretty much getting no where...

Anyone got any information that I may have missed or tips to improve?
Any comments are much appreciated!

I would start by only using eventing riders

I don't show my horses strictly in single disciplines. If they have leveled out of CC, I show them in the next highest rated discipline if it's a level lower than CC. So my C2 CC horses that still are J1 or D1 get shown in that second discipline while I'm waiting on them to "grow into" their first one. If they then go into level 2 on that one fairly quickly and have at least an S in the third discipline and it's still level 1, I show them in that as well. My points and money have skyrocketed since I started doing that.

First things first, going through your riders I see you have tons of SD riders. My tip: get rid of em. Only use eventing riders as it will save you LOADS in the long run. You also need to consolidate your horses and riders, you have so many unnecessary riders in your lounge. You can do this via the BM.

Ill change from SD riders to eventing ones. What would consolidating do?
<span style="font-size: 15px;">
I dont really stick to one disciple for each horse(I sort of do what you do, Almost Heaven) although I do SD train them but would I be better of just training them as eventers rather?

Consolidation gets rid of all those unnecessary riders you have. For example, you have 3 level 3 riders right now, with 9, 7, and 1 horses respectively. You can fire that rider with 1 horse and put that horse to the rider with 9 horses to max it out at 10 so you're only paying 2 riders instead of 3 when you don't have to be doing that.

Something's wrong somewhere. Are you showing all your horses? I've made over $250k this year alone and I have only about 100 horses total, counting the 20 yearlings who aren't showing yet and the horses I bought at auction that aren't showing yet. And I only have a single-digit number of horses over level 3.
I show mares and stallions as well as geldings (of course the geldings are mostly SD, but the intact stock is training in AD). They do train up slower, but that means they stay "in the money" longer in a discipline before they level out of it.

I show all my horses (the ones that are (I think) ready) which is about 400? When I first started showing with my method (said in intro) I was bringing in quite a lot, about 200k with only 200 horses. As Ive gotten more horses, profit has gone down to the 30k, if even that.

I have consolidated my riders and gotten rid of the horseless riders so hopefully thatll show an improvement.

Would I be better off having PPP+ geldings as AD?

That really depends. If you show your horses AD, they take longer to level up and will reach the higher levels later than being shown SD. On the other hand SD is easier to enter as you're only concentrating on one discipline. Personally I show AD and SD and haven't noticed a big difference. Once my CC geldings reach level 10 I just train and show them in SJ. This way they earn just as much as AD geldings. I show everything from S to E and they both make similar profits as well.
I've also noticed you've asigned some horses to the BM. I've actually stopped using her because she keeps entering horses that are definitly not ready to. So you're loosing a bit of money there too.

Im going to have to disagree with you here. The BM has been a lifesaver for me as I have her assigned to 200 geldings and set to show only the competitive ones. I have not once had a problem with her entering boys that aren't in the money and she saves so much time. Fran, I recommend you assign her a full 200 horses to show and set her to show only the competitive ones, it may help your profits and will surely help save your time.
