You specifically cannot delete it, but if you don't log in for 3 months then it is auto-deleted

From the FAQ:

How Do I Delete My Account? Accounts cannot be manually deleted. They are automatically deleted from the game after 90 days of inactivity. Or, if the account was upgraded, it will be deleted after one year of inactivity. Admins will not delete accounts for you. So, basically, stop logging into your account and it will go away after a while.

It was updated:

Basic Accounts will now expire after 180 days of

inactivity. And Premium Accounts will now expire

after 2 years of inactivity.

You have the ability to mark it for deletion. The large window is there in case you change your mind and want to play again. There really isn't any reason that should be a problem.
