Is there an age limit on federation horses entering the championships?

One of my geldings has just passed away and whilst looking at his info I noticed that in year 98 he came first in HECCF lvl 5, but was never entered into the championship and I cannot think why this would be?

there is no age limit.
Any horses that get entered into a federation will earn Fed points.
But you will have to renew the Fed membership every year.

Maybe you once mis-clicked and entered him into the Feds instead of entering him to a show in that year?

Sorry I don't think you understood my question. He was entered into the feds for the year and came 1st, so why wasn't he automatically entered into the championship games on the 27th?
This is for year 98.
