Hopefully this is the right area, but I had two "capture a pearl horse" passes. I used one, and received a horse that had no pearl gene, and the item was gone from my inventory. I thought I probably used it wrong so didnt think anything of it. I recieved another one recently, and tried again. I recieved a bay horse again with no pearl gene, and the capture pass is gone from my inventory.

Do you have links to both horses with gene tests? |

Your horse has a pearl gene. But it doesnt mean it will display on your horse unless certain other genes are present. |

Exactly. Pearl horses aren't always necessarily going to have visible pearl coats. |
