Is there a way to change the level of a rider once you have them or do you have to just hire a new rider for the level you want.

There is no way of changing the level of a rider except by training which takes weeks.

So yes best get one of the correct level.

If you are a starter barn don't have too many high level riders to start off with, level 7/8/9 riders are much more expensive. You have to have at least 6 competitive horses per high level rider to make it worth while.

You can take the option of trading your rider. But people will only buy them if they have some experience.

Oh forgot to say, have all riders training in 'all disciplines'. These riders can have any horse assigned; all discipline, jump, cross country or dressage.

It gets too messy if they train in say just jumping and they go up levels too fast without gaining the necessay experience (no. of competition entries).
