With the addition of the World Class rating, do any barns see a reason to keep EEE stallions in their breeding progam? It seems like the focus now is EEE+ and there's not much of a market for EEE stallions. Just wondering what other barns are doing. (Gelding and showing, cull, sell, etc.) Thanks!

It depends entirely on your breeding program. If you want to breed for ratings alone, an EEE stud is pretty much useless and serves best as a show gelding.

If you breed for rating combined with something else (colour or bravery e.g.) it might be worth to consider an EEE stud if he has lots of colour or WC bravery for example.

In the end you need to ask yourself, if this stud is gonna benefit your stable or not.

I would geld EEE studs depending on your own breeding success.

Like, if you are a super successful stable getting W horses like crazy, then yeah, geld EEEs.

If your production is scarce, I would try at least test EEEs. There are some that get to be even stronger than some W horses.

So... my opinion on this is a bit different. I used to use EEE stallions (even really bad ones before the WWW rating was released) to build my gelding army. Chances are he will consistently throw PPPs, which are perfect for showing. I would keep the PEP+ mares to breed back to the stallions, and thus, the cycle continued until I had a big, strong enough gelding army that I could cut ties with the mares and snip the stallions.

Thank you for the infro Charmed Acres! I breed my PEE+ mares for rating and I have a separate line for PPP and PEP combo mares for a color rarity project. Maybe if I breed a rare EEE, I'll use them for that project. :)
