So this happened... my Wild X stud is down one bar in STR with 1 training session. I haven’t entered him in trail rides or anything like that.

This is not a bug. Wilds can go down traits if they are weak enough.

Wilds can train down a bar if they are extremely weak in that trait. Not a bug :)
