I see horses with ** in front of their name or ++++. I am sure the breeder is indicating something special. I was just wondering how it is determined. I have a mare who produced an EE foal. Should I put a special mark on her name? I would like to know how other barns are acknowledging their superstars.

So nobody uses marks to indicate what type of producer they are? Just to tell if they are a mare or stallion?

No, people do use different characters to indicate how good a producer a horse is. Its more common with bigger stables, though. It helps keep track :)
