Iris, I too had an oldie. He lived until 8 or 9. I think a lot of people are too heartless to want to have a fish for that long though, despite it being their proper lifespan, and doom it to a tiny bowl.
It hurts every time people believe that fish can just be put in those awful single gallon bowls... Bettas are tropical, as are many other fish, and require heat.
Nah. Plexiglass or something similar glued to the walls/floor of the tank. Ideally something curved to help with the water pressure, then probably something similar for the waterfall but glue rocks to it
The way I have it in my head is that the front of the tank is water, back two corners are land with plants, and then the middle back is a gentle waterfall (falling over rocks to minimize turbulence). I'd probably be hiding all the pump equipment being the waterfall
