SJ yeah tell me about it with the population boom, I'm smack in the middle between Coeur D' Alene and Sandpoint :| I prefer the quiet as well. We have forested mountains up here, mostly coniferous. We have deer, both whitetail and mules. We see them all the time. Elk, everywhere but not seen as much due to heavy poaching in this particular neighborhood. Moose we seen a few times a year, bear both black and grizzly, I saw them weekly when I lived farther north, not nearly as prevalent down here, mountain lions (we have one in this neighborhood but we don't see it much) bobcats, wolves and coyotes. Small critters are diverse and constantly everywhere. We get cold snowy winters and hot dry summers. Spring and fall are early and late winter and also mud season. Lots or stunning riding, hiking, and swimming!
Ey, most people never leave more than 50-100 miles from their home or place of birth. Sunday drives are a great start. I have friends in Cali and I can still surprise them with new places.
i was just at the LA equestrian center over summer for state championships and now they have to evacuate all those horses out... there were hundreds, i hope they found space somewhere safe
MC lol I'm FROM Idaho haha. However I tend to stay up in the panhandle, it is gorgeous up here and I love it, I just want to see the rest of the state as well hahaha! Craters of the moon is on my list, as is Spencer, and there were a few little hidden gems I want to check out with the kids, but they are still a bit too little to enjoy it yet.
The hills are nice but the foliage can be dry and sparse. Fauna are usually small and hard to spot. Elk herds once a year, white tail n mule every 5 months or so. It's usually windy, mixed with either blazing hot or brisk cold. This year's been humid. And we've had an influx in population. Say what you will about it, but I'd prefer things to stay quiet
That's fair. But the lack of water in the hydrants, the immense overgrowth that hasn't been maintained, and the fact that they pulled funding from firefighters didn't help the situation. Fires are going to happen, but the circumstances lead to the perfect set of monster fire consequences. I feel like so far everything since the fire started that could be done, has been which is great, but I dunno. I can only go off the information I get here and there, and I don't live there so I'm sure I am missing or misinterpreting information. Either way the fact that lives, homes, and livelihoods are being lost
Oooooh nice! What's the land like down there? I have never been south of McCall, one day I want to do an Idaho road trip and check out all the nooks and crannys of the state
MC thank goodness for that! My heart goes out to all the people down there. Sounds like local government/ city politicians really dropped the ball on the whole thing.
