I work for an organization and have all the time and resources to rescue. It's something I have always wanted to do. My goal is not to ride him if it ends up that he isn't sound or healthy enough. I'm rescuing to give him a safe place to land. I have hands on the horse now it would just be a lifestyle change for me. I am pretty much just looking for things anyone else has done when bringing home their first. Small things that they did or didn't do that made the transition easier.
Seriously considering adopting my first horse. Any tips and pointers for starting from actual scratch? He would need an his training and groundwork but I have that lined up already and a place to house him. Just some knowledge from those with experience would be amazing.

If you have Dapple Blend Grain, you can feed it to your horse and their coat will dapple.
The effect will wear off after a few days. One pound of grain will be fed at a time.
If you feed Senior Blend to your senior horse they will have a 10% decreased chance in dying
when the weekly script runs on Monday morning. The effect lasts for one weekly cycle.

You can hire a rider. They will be automatically assigned to your horse. Be sure to visit the Rider's Lounge and pay them.
Set Breeding Requirements for your horse. Enter the minimum rating allowable for breeding. When breeding, Any combo of the entered values and higher will be accepted. Leave blank to set to None.
Edit your horse's remarks. Keep all content PG-13.
Choose a Background for your horse.
Withdraw your horse from it's team. You will lose all team points for this horse. Please discuss this action with the team manager first.
Your horse may show 3 times per week. Shows run daily. Your horse and rider will gain valuable experience from showing. Select a discipline to show in, or scratch from tonight's show.

If you would like to put your horse on the market for breeding, click below. Note that when your horse is up for breeding, anyone may breed to them. Also note that you don't need to enter a price when marking a stallion available for straws.

sale, anyone may purchase it.
If you no longer wish to own this horse, you may set them free to fend for themselves. The Karma Fairy will pay you 1000 for your adult horse, up to 100 horses per month. 100 to go! The Karma Fairy will pay you 200 Credits for all of your adult horses. The Karma Fairy will pay you zero for your yearling. This action is not reversible so be sure before you click Submit !

Join A Federation. Your horse will accrue Federation Points
and based on that may make the Federation Championships.
