Sam turned his head once more to look at her, cheek resting on his knee. "yeah, i spent every hour i could with her. But then she got in hospital so i just couldnt see her...i feel guilty for that." Sam admitted quietly, looking into Ellie's deep blue hypnotic eyes.

"Don't be guilty... You did nothing wrong. You were a child and I'm sure she would have understood," she whispered with hesitance. She let her eyes hover on his for a moment before giving out a shy smile. Ellie looked at the ground for a second or two, then glanced back up at him. She couldn't understand why on earth someone so sweet could lost the most important thing to him- or that he had it so hard.

"but anyway, i'm sure she is in a happier place now." He said, trying to lift the mood a little. Sam felt guilty for burdening all his emotions on Ellie, this was her day just as much as his. The sun was beginning to set just a tiny bit, the pale gold of the sky contrasting beautifully with the pink wild roses around them.

Ellie nodded in gentle agreement before tilting her head back a little and letting out a small breath of tire. "Me too." She hummed with the friendliest of smiles. She didn't want to leave just yet, the company she was holding was nice, but the night was setting upon the rapidly.

Sam sat comfortably, sesting his head back against the stone ivy wall behind them, eyes closed, lips parted slightly. Once in a while he would glance over at Ellie's calm smiling face, and he thought this was the happiest he had been in a very long time, since his mother died.

Ellie watched him through her lashes quietly, happy to see him so relaxed. "It's getting darker." She whispered as though she didn't want to disturb him. "We should really be going soon,"

Sam's eyes fluttered open, as he slowly got up and stretched little, loking at the grgeus sunset abve them. "yes, let's get going." Sam said happily, beginning t walk back down the vergrwn pathway back to the horses. As they walked, Ellie and Sam's hands brushed ogether lighty as they swung, and Sam felt like a ripple of electricity shoot up his arm. no. he thought no no no no no. He thought, pushing the image of them out of his head. They couldnt. But what are we?

Ellie followed him along quietly, just taking in the calm of the ever growing darkness. The quiet was soothing and just being around Sam make her feel up-beat, so she was more than content. But when she felt his warm hand against hers, she felt herself start to jump a little but soon relaxed and let her hand fall limp at her side next to his. Ellie gave a small smile more to herself, looking down at the ground as they walk.

slowly, quietly, Sam softly took Ellie's hand in his. Hoping against hope she wouldn't pull away, He kept walking peacefully, a small, faint smile lingering on his lips. (sorry short!)
