Sam removed Nero's saddle, setting his tack down by the fene. he then produced a long rope, and looped it quickly around 4 wide-spaced trees, giving his horse a makeshift pasture as Nero had a tendeny to run off if left un-tied. So with the horse nibbling away at the green shoots, Sam sat down crosslegged beside Ellie, taking some cheese, crackers and juice out of the bag to add to the picnic mix.

Ellie watched Sam as he made the little make shift pen, telling herself to remember that trick whenever she was out with Frost. Astra was okay, he just ate nonstop so Ellie trusted him more than enough to stay put, but Frost was a whole other tale to tell. She waited for Sam to return to the spot before actually starting to eat. She had taken a couple bites of her sandwich before pausing to talk. "Are you still in school?" She questioned out of the blue, "I mean, I don't think you're the sort of person to just drop out. You seem to... Refined for that." She shrugged before taking another small bite of her sandwich.

Sam grinned at her comment. "yeah, i'm in school but its..complicated." he said. "basically when i'm not here i'm at school, and when i'm here i get work sent over to do, then i send it back on my laptop." he said, taking a large bite of a cheese sandwich. "but its easy and i like it." he said. "hey, what about you?"

"Ah, I see..." She nodded thinking for a moment to make sure she had understood. "That does sound easier." She said with a slight chuckle. "I disappear half way through the day to do my classes online every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and over the weekend I do night school." She murmured lightly. "But I'm quitting in a year or so. Its not something I can keep up with. I'm still to admit it to my family though, just not sure how to tell them... They've always wanted me to stay in school and get a 'proper' job of sorts." She admitted with a soft chuckle, her cheeks turning slight pink.

"i think you should be able to do what you want." Sam said, taking another big bite. "and if you see yourself working with horses in the future, its not as if youre gong to need much knwledge of english and math and all that crap." he said pensively. "all you need is a good amount of riding experience"

"I guess... But I don't know if I would be able to be with horses my whole life. I'm not very good at staying to one thing," she noted with a chuckle, shaking her head slightly. "But what do you want to do? I assume you have a dream of some sort." She questioned as she turned to look at the horses before finishing off her sandwich.

"mm." he agreed, mouth full of bread. Swallowing, he said shyly "i' love to be a riding instructor, i love too teach." he confessed. Sam had never told anybody this as he was fearful of being ridiculed. Finishing his sandwich. he took a swig of orange juice, glancing over his shoulder to make sure Nero was ok.

Ellie didn't seem as surprised as she maybe could have been when he noted that he wanted to be an instructor, mainly because she could imagining being in the middle of the ring teaching a lesson, but couldn't understand why he seemed so quit about it. She gave him a curt nod and a smile, "I can definitely see you doing that. Especially after the little fundraiser we had." She told him lightly. "But you don't seem so confident about it..." She almost turned her note into a question, but decided against it.

Sam smiled quietly. "my father doesnt approve. Wants me to be a banker like him..." Sam had no interest whatsoever in that job and wanted to steer far away from anything like what his father did for a living. "but i want to do it. mayb i'll talk to him." he said, a hint of determination in his voice.

"Yeah, you should do that. Why should he get a say in what you do if he's never around?" She questioned quite frankly. She gave him a light smile to help get him up in his moods again. Ellie had always been quiet an up front person, but sometimes shr knew she could say the wrong thing at the wrong time. She just prayed that this wasn't one of them. "I wouldn't have even asked to be honest." She added with a held back chuckle.
