After a few minuets, Ellies seemed to have buckled up and started to get ready to tack the now calm mare up. She would soon become a lot less calm. The girl took a breath before walking off to grab Frost's tack. The saddle was lighter than Astras, so she maneuvered a whole lot easier than with the other saddle. She tacked up quickly, then quietly lead the dapple mare out. Ellie was a little nervous around this horse, but she still tried her damn hardest to hide it. Slowly, she made her way to the arena, tightening the girth up before using the fence to get on. The mare, light on her toes, instantly started pulling on her rains, starting to trot forward. There was no denying that the horse moved nicely, but if only she would go when Ellie commanded it. She tried to be relaxed, because she knew if she didn't, then Frost would just take advantage of it. Frost was used to going fast, and not stopping, not until a fence was in the way, at least. Now, Ellie bought Frost from a barrel racer, simply because Astra wasn't quick enough to finish a pattern quick enough, but she wasn't exactly the horse she expected.

Sam watched silently as Ellie and her horse walked towards the aena. He could tell thegirl was nervous around the horse, and thet showed in the dapple mare's temperment. If Ellie just treated her the same as she did her other horse, the mare would be just fine. but of course he didnt tell he this. she'd probably just kick off at me he thought, laying back in the grass, sunbathing and watching nero chomp on some hay.

A few minuets past, and the girl finally managed to take control, having the mare move a little nicer, and more quietly. Ellie looked ever so slightly more relaxed, and so did Frost for that matter. There we go. She thought with a breath, pulling her back slightly to keep steady. A small amount or relief washed over her face, puffing out a small breath, Ellie was a quiet rider, so she hated being heavy handed, meaning it took a while to calm the mare down. It wasn't Frost's fault, that's just how she had been taught, fast and sharp, but it most definitely wan't to Ellie's liking.

Sam watched all this from a dstance, hen finally approached. "you do know thats part your fault," he said, gesturing at the prancing grey. "you have to treat her just as you treat your other horse, like your equal and your friend." he said, leaning casually against the wall.

"I'm..." She paused, taking a glance over to see who was talking to her before nodding. "Trying." She finished. She knew what she was doing wrong. But for some reason, someone actually telling it to her was annoying. "She's not a schooling horse, that's all." Ellie informed him, her voice dripping with annoyance. "Just restless." She added, trying to find some other reason for this. It was partly true, she hadn't let the mare go around a pattern in a while, and simply schooling must have been a little boring for such a horse.

"okay, fair enough!" he said, grinning as he watched her get all annoyed. "have you tried weaving poles?" i hear there good for horses like yours.he could see that Ellie was finding it hard not to agree with him, so he strode off with a grian and a wave, to let her think about what he had said. he got Nero in and tacked him up. he decided to do some crosscountry, and headed towards the course. they whooshed off, cleaing several brushes and a large jump featuring a wooden squirrel gnawing a log. finally they cleared the wather jump with ease and elegance, and they headed home.

Ellie shook her head, letting her brows furrow slightly. She didn't know what it was but this boy got under her skin. Maybe it was just because she hadn't really been around other equestrians her age, whether that be western or English. She felt challenged. She watched him walk off, her brows furrowing a little deeper before turning the mare away. Maybe she should get the barrels out? It had been a while since she had done barrels, whether that be with Astra or Frost. She looked down at the mares neck, thinking for a moment. Barrels. She thought, before hopping off and rolling a few into a simple pattern, Frost looking instantly more exited. Ellie didn't mind the speed when she did barrels, as long as she could stop eventually. The young Ellie looked at the pattern from a distance before hopping back on the mare from the ground and walking to the start, instantly feeling her tug- hard- on the reins. "Calm down," She said with a small chuckle, patting her neck softly. She waited a moment for the mare to calm down before putting the smallest amount of pressure on her sides and off she went, much to Ellie's excitement. The mare stumbled on her few steps but after that, her ride was smooth, and she didn't mind the wind that crashed in her face; despite the small space, Frost showed no intention of stopping, not until she was done at least. Ellie had to turn her into the fence to stop, but the grin on her wind-swept face was more than enough to show how she felt. "Was that fun, hm?" The young lady asked with a laugh, turning to walk the mare around the arena to calm down a little.

Sam watched their progress with the barrels from a distant hilltop. they were gettin somewhere. the cantered happily down some tracks, and walked into the yard. Sam untacked Nero, put him in his stable, gave him food, water and hay and headed to bed. He sank into the soft matres, his muscles aching from the ride. he turned over and fell into dreams of horses.

Ellie watched the ground move past as the mares took every step, her huffing and puffing starting to calm down. A small smile still remained on the girls face, but the sun had started to set, and she'd have to get off soon. After another ten or so minuets, she dismounted and lead Frost to the stalls, letting her head hang low. Ellie would stay at the barn until quite late most nights, just watching the horses. Someone had to. Sometimes, she had no choice but to sleep in the hay loft. Well, she had a choice, but chose not to take it. She swiftly sorted the two horses out before going to sit on a chair at the bottom of the row or stables, keeping a keen eye on the horses for a few hours, then started falling into a peaceful slumber until the morning.

Sam rose at five in the morning and walked into the yard. all was peaceful, quiet and serene in the early hours of the morning. he did a double take as he saw ellie dozing peacefully in a chair at the far end of the stables, head tilted toward her horses. he could see her horses were hungy, so he reached over and tapped her on the arm "hey, your horses need feeding." he said softly.
