I walk inside school with a sigh. How I hated going to school, everyone teased me, I was the least popular kid in school. My gaze flashes up a bit as I almost stumble into somebody. I start to blush as I realize it was my crush. 15 year old Tyler Moncana, hottest guy in school, nicest, and most popular. I mutter, "Sorry." One of Tyler's friends sneer, "watch where your going, idiot!" I flinch and swiftly pick my stuff up and move away before Tyler could respond, or I could get insulted again. I walk into first hour with a sigh. Band was great, despite the fact that there were only two trombones in band. One, was me and the second one was none other than Tyler Moncana. Since this was my fifth year in band and Tyler's first, I had to teach him. Show him how to play the instrument and help him. So far he was doing good for a first year. The first day of school I had joked and said, "if you help me in basketball I'll help in band." All I had gotten in return was a glare from one of his friends. Today we were practicing for our concert that was coming up. I had asked to play a solo during it, and our band director said yes. Band was over quickly and soon it was time for second hour. As I waited for the bell, I remembered who I was, when I was glared at. I am Gemma Moonstar, daughter of Jacob and Savanna Moonstar. I am a 7th grader band lover, book worm, and athlete. I am the least popular kid in school, and I am scorned. I am Gemma Moonstar, the 12 year daughter of an amazing Dad and abusive Mom. Second hour came and went just like that, as did third and fourth and soon it was lunch. We had an off-campus lunch since we were such a small town. I put my bag and books up and slam my locker close. Heading towards the front, I ignore Tyler as I pass his and his friends lockers. I flinch slightly as I hear Tyler's best friend sneer, "freak." Hurrying out the door, I emerge alone as usual. I use to have a best friend but sadly she moved. I could tell my Dad what the school was doing to me, but I didn't want to burden him. As I swiftly move towards my family's restaurant I hear a group of familiar voices behind me. I mutter, "no, no, NO!" Sure enough as I shoot a look behind me, there was Tyler and his three closest friends behind me. As I continue left, while most of the kids go right, I hear Tyler and his friends follow me. I groan. Lunch came and went and the rest of school did as well. After school I walked through the gym, to get to my Dad's shop. The highschool basketball team was practicing and as I look outside, I get a text from Dad saying he was driving a bus. I sigh and go sit back down in the gym. I fiddle on my phone and look up as I hear some kids walk in. My posture stiffened as I saw some of the popular kids of my grade, the leader, Emma sneers, " Well if it isn't Moonstar!" I sigh, "yes Emma?" Emma turns and calls, "Coach could we borrow the boys for a second?" Coach Karjua nods and the boys jog over. Emma sneers, her gaze on me, "Hey Tyler guess what?" Tyler shrugs. Emma's friends snicker as she continues, "This 7th grade is in love with you." My face turns bright red as the whole team looks as me. Emma continues on evilly, "isn't that right, Moonstar?" Unable to lie, I silently nod. The tears about to fall. Tyler's expression was unreadable, as the rest of his team howls with laughter.
What happens to Gemma? Will Tyler make fun of her, and break her heart? Or will Emma's plan backfire on her? Find out in part two of 'A Love Story-The Bumps Of Falling In Love'
