Or this horse has 8 bars in two traits, but not one so is he ready?

I think what's confusing me is horses like this have 8 bars, but will still do poorly in a show.

Geldings I do SD - breeding stock always AD, so I can match properly

I prefer AD, but that's because I breed AD and my showing stock are failed outcomes of breeding.

The Barn Manager is the only reason I show. I am terrible at tracking and entering by hand.

Do you guys prefer showing AD, SD, or a mix of both?

I used to enter all my horses by hand, but it took waayyyy too long. I found myself not entering horses at all because I didn't want to fool with it. Now I'm using the BM and I wish I had done it sooner. She may not make quite as much money as I would, but it's a lot faster and more convenient.

I've always used the barn manager - set to only competitive - and always turned a nice profit. Like last week, pulled in 252k

It's more of a time-saver than anything. She'll help you earn money over time, but probably not as much as if you entered the horses yourself.

Okay interesting, thank you. I will play around with it this GY and see what happens lol
Cloud Peak Stables

I'm not sure what criteria the BM uses to enter them, but most just leave her set to show the same horses all the time. She's supposed to pick the ones that are expected to do well, but I've heard mixed reviews of her effectiveness.
Fernweh QH
02:01:01 Fern | Kinz
I see. So say I manage all my horses instead of only picking the ones with double the training bars than their showing level, if I toggle that, she'll only show horses that SHOULD come out profiting and not show the ones that won't? Or would it just be better to go through my horses each Monday after training and have her manage only the horses that meet that double bar standard? Sorry for the questions, I'm trying to finally turn a profit lmaooo

The only time to use "Show All" is if you have futurity foals or horses in an eventing federation where they must show all three shows each week.

So she essentially will only show horses that will come out with profit from showing?

show all, will show everything, even ones that don't have enough training to win money

Hey, what differences come from having the barn manager "show all horses" and "show only competitive horses?" What does that change in terms of who shows, and how is that decided?

The other horses are warming up to him lol
I'll get more pictures soon, he is very whip shy, its not uncommon for draft horses to be whip abused, or really any horse in the hands of a bad owner. He is terrified of whips, or anything that seems like one, thinks he is going to be hit ): Learned that the hard way when I tried to rub him down with a flag, he didn't but he sure did seem like he wanted to strike at me. Hoping I can get him to realize that it won't hurt him.

Haven't posted a lot lol, what can I say? Right now we're not doing much lol. Its been raining and this crazy weather has us just chillin'.
A few days ago I took him out, rode with 4 other horses for the first time & we went in the fields, they took off in a race and Hercules started bucking lol. I wasn't ready so my feet came out of the stirrups, I almost flew off too lol. I surprisingly rode him out, gosh I didn't think he would be the one to buck lol. He wanted to go, but I didn't let him lmao. After that ride we haven't done anything, waiting for the sun to finally come out & this rain to go away! I can't wait to take his butt on the trails, I have a feeling thats going to be one heck of an experience since he spooks at the littlest of things.
I was letting him graze in his halter, a couple came walking down our rode and he freaked out lol! They didn't want to cross his path & turned around, he was snorting too lol, don't know what was up with them. I also almost fell off because he flipped out when a squirrel ran in front of us on the road lol, and some other untold experiences we've had so far lmao

Anyone else have a horse that shed a literal ton? My Friesian x QH gelding is like a wooly Mammoth

Sounds like my bay paint mare 😂 she would shed her brown first in massive piles then a few weeks later drop all her white hair lol. The place I boarded at always knew when I was there because they’d find a huge pile of hair somewhere lol

Day before a show and my QH x Arabian gelding rolled after I had thought he was dry. Nope, bedding all over his legs, back and forelock. He honestly looked like a big wood chip block himself. Clipping and Shaving is the worst, he won't stand still and likes to eat the electric razor cord if it's hanging close enough to him. Anyone else have mischievous babes who will do anything and everything to annoy you?

Have you heard about the 80 dollar champion? (There's a book with that title, if you'd like to read it...) Sounds a lot like your horse Hercules! He was bound for the slaughter horse when a man bought him to use as a school horse. Long story short, he found that the draft horse cross could jump high!

Nope, I'll have to look into it! Hercules can jump for such a big guy lol.. Found that out trying to walk him over a shallow ditch, I was not ready for that, he jumped it as if it was going to swallow him up lmao!

My cousin has a perlino mare, who loves to annoy her lol. Last summer she gave her a bath, went into the barn and came back and she had rolled in the mud! She looked at her, she known and did it on purpose lol!
