Ok Sunset, I find it funny you're asking for opinions on how to fix your issues yet people are making suggestions and all you're doing is counterarguing them. All everyone is doing is trying to help because you asked for it :)

If he's a hard horse and is taking advantage of you this much, you need to go back to the basics. You don't seem like you're ready to handle him in the jumping ring yet. It take slots of time and I'd highly suggest going back to solely groundwork. You need to gain full trust in a 2000lb animal with a mind of his own before doing stuff like that. Honestly a horse change is a good option for you so you can learn to strengthen your left hand on an easier subject rather than throwing yourself all out on a bolting, spooking horse.

The whole trainer situation is also very dangerous. By spooking the horse she's putting everyone's lives in danger. No matter how long she's been riding and teaching, NO trainer should ever purposely spook a horse. That's just an idiot move, no matter if they're trying to help you learn or not.

Again, this is all specific to my personal situation. I shouldn't have asked for advice noe that I see that people do not take into account what my actual situation is because no player here knows me in real life. You'd have to be there to understand fully.

I'm also not trying to counter argue what is being said :) I just asked for some coping methods as my anxiety is hardly bad yet. it's at the point where it could escalate, which is why I asked for opinions, but as of now, it's not horrible. I feel that what was said may have been a bit over the top as again my situation is different

I'm so anxious I just don't ride any more. I'm confident on the ground only. I have little ponies for my horsey fix.

Well it is obvious by your answeres that you do not actually want our help! Then i wonder why you asking for help if you dont accept or listen to what other eperienced riders, breeders and/or trainers tell you. You do seem to have a answere to all we suggest you or lets say a excuse.

Iam sorry that you feel that way.

Your trainer is irrisonsable even if she trained for that long. She aint a good trainer atall. I have been a Area champion Jumper rider here where i live for 8 years, yes that was nearly 25 years ago but i have experience in riding for 35 years and on top of that i been breeding and training horses and riders for nearly 20 years with that said yes iam a licenced riding trainer specializing in jumping. And spooking a horse on purpose in recless, dangerous and respectless towards the horse and rider no matter the reasons cause there is no excuse for spooking a horse on purpose. And even as a rider allowing this to be done is very recless in my eyes and just shows that you want to go to places no matter the costs. I hope you do know that you placing yours, others and the horses life at risk in allowing that.

Every Rider and horse needs to do groundwork and dressage work for jumping, sadly many jumpers forget that part cause the jumping is more fun to them. But the groundwork and the dressage is the key to it all. Every olympic or champion Jumper will tell you that.

I do not think that you should change the horse but you should atleast be more responsable and reasonable with your horse. Right now that whole situation is dangerous to you , others and the horse.

I really do hope neither you or the horse will end up with broken bones, i wish you well.

I have an issue with this sometimes and what I do is take a break and drop the reigns and have him walk me around the arena to take a breather. I get panic a.ttacks at horse shows but lately it hasn't been happening as much

My trainer doesn't know about it yet and just yells at me and pushes me harder when I tense up and start shaking and gasping for air and her doing that just makes it worse. when I first started tensing up one day she purposefully made DJ spook so I would loosen up.
For me it doesn't just happen there has to be something that causes it to happen. Like him running at a jump and then refusing or running out... it doesn't scare me because I'm used to it but then I start to expect it to happen and he takes advantage of that. After a few runouts and straight up galloping down 6 stride lines in 4, or my trainer yelling "I CAN MAKE MAKE HIM SPOOK MACE" and running at him and rattling the jump standard when I cantered past so he would buck and run off, will trigger it. I need to talk to my trainer this Wednesday about what's happening so she can work it out in a way other than running at my horse to make him spook and buck and gallop off.
I'll be fine as long as she understands and gives me small breaks when I get like that to calm myself down and just take a moment because I can cope with it fine if she lets me have a minute

all your responses to everyone is just an excuse. Your trainer purposefully spooking a horse is dangerous to you, her, the horse, and anyone else in the arena. My first trainer was getting to her 70's and had been riding since she was 5 but most of the things she did were incorrect. I have an issue with seesawing after 3 years of being away from her. My point is that she may have been an instructor for 35 years but she could still be wrong. You wanting to continue jumping no matter what is selfish! You need to wake up and realize you are why he is stopping or running out or running away from jumps. Have you and your horse adjusted by chiro to make sure everything is fine. But you need to take a step back and go to ground poles and transition. Then work your way up SLOWLY if he is balanced and not running out. And if your jumping above 2' every day but satuday that isn't good for your horse's joints. I jump a Max of 2 days a week to prepare for a show that weekend and a small cross rail day, other than that we jump once a week and plat the rest. Dressage is a foundation that every horse should have. Your trainer yelling and screaming at you isn't going to help either. I should know, that is how my first trainer was. If you choose not to listen to us and be rude and make excuses then you shouldn't have posted. We have all made excellent points and you have shot down and made excuses for every one of them. Why not listen and think about what we are trying to tell you. All we want to do is help but we can't do that if you won't listen.

Feeling anxious and having an anxiety attack are two different things. From the wording of your original post it seemed as though you were experiencing anxiety attacks frequently whilst riding.

Which is why we were suggesting what we previously had. Now, as you've made it clear that your anxiety is not that bad, but, still interferes with your riding, perhaps maybe speak to a local therapist or community counsellor instead - or if you're in school, then a school counsellor? (Not sure if they have those where you live, or in the states). Or, just talk to someone about it.

Like I said, I don't know you, your situation, or your horse. I'm just trying to help and you have every right to shoot me down.
