Hello, everyone! I’m back and I’ve got a bunch of random questions that I’m hoping to get some feedback on. My Basic Horse Intro I ride a lovely bay mare named Mark's Art(Twinkie) who is a OTTB,can be a maniac,but is relatively calm. Next we have a chestnut gelding named Dale,who I occasionally ride. I've been riding for three years now going onto my fourth year and have been doing rodeos for three years.I do ALOT of things in western. Pleasure Ranch Pleasure Trail Showmanship Ground Handling Barrels Poles Stakes Flags English Hunter Jumping Basic Dressage(collecting extending)
So to say the least I have some riding skills and a basic knowledge followed by some more in depth knowledge of the sport of Equestrisim. In speed events I usually do a fast canter/slow gallop. Hunters I do 70 cm. |

1/3/24 - Where can I find good quality tack at lower prices?
- Any secrets for making your horse spotless using just grooming tools (no water)?
- Do you have any tricks for calming show nerves?
- I’m really struggling with putting on a tailbag—any tips or tricks to make it easier?

1/3/24 - Where can I find good quality tack at lower prices? Second hand is always a good option, check marketplace. Two horse tack has some nice biothane stuff for not super expensive. Also just watch for sales.
- Any secrets for making your horse spotless using just grooming tools (no water)? Yes actually, cactus cloth. I got mine of Amazon and it works so good, run vigorously over dry stains and then brush and repeat until they are gone.
- Do you have any tricks for calming show nerves? Dont wait super long of possible, the longer you stand by the ring and build anticipation the worse it will be, during riding if your nervous sing a little song, the abcs work really well to help you focus and remember to breathe
- I’m really struggling with putting on a tailbag—any tips or tricks to make it easier? braid the tail nice and tight starting from the bottom of the tail bone then fold the tail over and secure it if necessary, then put it into the sock like a pillow case, using your hands to help if necessary.

1/4/25 Hello Everyone! Now if you have any questions horse related feel free to post them! Anyways,here are my most recent questions. 1.) So Twinkie(see second post)does'nt like to lope unless your in spurs.My tainer has told me to get some spurs. Two options for spurs. Round or Rowel? 2.) How the heck do I pin my show number to my saddle pad and make it last two days of constant use? (funny story.last year at a show in febuary my tag fell off bc the pins ripped through it DURING THE BIGGEST CLASS T-T just dont want a repeat of last year xD) |

I would go round, especially if your new to using spurs, they are a valuable tool as long as you can use them properly. Round just gives you a little boost and isn't to sharp for the horse. Make sure they are positioned in a way that you can apply your leg without them. 2.) How the heck do I pin my show number to my saddle pad and make it last two days of constant use? Like these. I'm sure you could find them cheaper.
