I would love that! We have Primary school which is 9-13 and then High school which is 13-18 but kids tend to fall behind because the curriculum is awful so i'm homeschooling on a british curriculum and getting ahead. I basically want to get ahead, move schools and go work with the kids 3-4 years older so i'm preparing for the testing exam in Jan

This girly is such a stunner as an adult, too bad about the rating but I love her coloring so she's a keeper.

We have quite a different type of High School here, so you can do 4 years > graduate at 16, 5 years > graduate at 17 and 6 years > graduate at 18

Any QH breeders around? December 4, 2024 07:47 AM

I'm writing my bachelor's thesis about how the three distinct types of Quarter Horses diverged and what is the breeding goal for each type.

However, I barely find anything about the specific types. Most of the sources talk about the Quarter Horse in general, mentioning that the racing type is more heavily crossed with TB. I find very little material on halter and stock type breeding.

If anyone is a breeder or knows one, could you point me to the right direction? I understand that writing about a US breed from Europe is going to be more difficult, as I cannot visit stud farms. I'm mainly interested if there are any books or scientific articles regarding the types, but I'd be very happy if someone had stud horses and could help me out with conformation pictures and lineages :D Obviously, since it's a thesis for a degree, everything will be properly credited, including pictures and discussions.

I don't breed QH's but I've shown in the industry for years and owned QH's for years. Have you ever found the legends books by Western Horseman? They discuss a lot of breeding and influence type things.

I can try to help you. I am not a serious breeder or anything but I tend to stay relatively up-to-date on trends in the QH world. I can help show you the difference between western pleasure, rope, and english QHs if you want

I haven't seen the series before, but I'll see if I can get my hands on them. They sound promising. Thank you for the suggestion <3

My specific topic is the differences in conformation between the halter-bred, stock and racing type horses within the breed, and the selection that was used to achieve them. If you think you can help me out with this my mailbox is open and I'm very thankful^^

You may be able to pull up the stud book that is give out at Quarter Horse Congress. It is one of the largest single breed shows in the world. Anything you can show a quarter horse in is shown there meaning their stud book has horses that can do all of those things too with copies of a portion of their lineages. A good portion of the horses in the book are halter or western pleasure horses. Another great resource is the Kiss Speed Stallions Studbook. The kiss stallions are all racing stallions or contesting (speed event) horses. Nowadays most stallions have Facebook pages with their offspring if you find a specific lineage you are interested in. You can also inbox me if you have specific questions.

I breed stock quarter horses, and can tell you a little bit about the difference in confirmation in the breed. Starting with we like cow horses to be built like a brick shit house but on the racing side they want their horses to be built up in mostly the back legs and the topline
