A strong one will still be able to go up at least one on week 3/6/9. One training shouldn't hurt things too much.

Training won't be as accurate, unfortunately.

Shouldn't make that big a difference, since you won't see a change until at least wk 3, more likely wk 4

How big of a deal is it to have an SD horse accidentally train AD their first week?

@Cloud, I noticed that most of your AD geldings are a mix of WEP. Do you like those ratings?

I would say on the second one that it's the equivalent of having even bars across since it's down one and up one in traits. So it will probably need another week.

I've also found that some stats count for more than others, so having a good Int in dressage is more important than having a bad Str

Your second gelding averages out to equal bars (+1 in Int, -1 in Str), so he's still ready

Bird, that's because his bars equal his training level. I would call this the bare minimum for entering. I'd expect this one to come in 6th to 8th. When they have more bars than training level, they do well

Well she’s gone. At least she’s no long suffering.

Or this horse has 8 bars in two traits, but not one so is he ready?

I think what's confusing me is horses like this have 8 bars, but will still do poorly in a show.

Roan looking hairs but not roan...?? August 5, 2022 01:02 PM

My gelding is a 2.5 year old chestnut mustang I've never seen him in person with his summer coat as I just got him 60 days ago but he's labeled chestnut on the BLM and his old owner called him chestnut as well and she had him last summer. I've been noticing he's getting a bunch of white hairs like roaning especially around his withers belly and flank area and even some bigger spots of white I thought they were dead hairs so I've been grooming him trying to get the dead hairs out for about a week but honestly more are turning white. I've given him a bath I've scrubbed him with a curry comb used a slick and easy block used a metal curry brush used a hard brush and a medium and soft brush all in the same grooming sessions but the hairs are still there....he even has a big spot of white above his neck behind his ears near his bridle path I don't know if it's important to note but he does have some random spots of white under his belly and also a pretty big white marking under his lip when brushing his tail for the first time I found that he has about 5 colors in his tail some strands of black some silver dark red a lighter red and a really light red I honestly don't know what the hairs could be because he isn't labeled roan and he should have roaned out by now if he was one..
When i first got him he was completely matted with winter coat though so I'm not sure...anyone know what it might be? I'll get photos tonight
Photos on second page!

Possibly Vitiligo? I know it can show up early on some horses.

Is he possibly greying? Or maybe vitiligo?

My thought was graying too. Some change later than others!

I do want to get him gene tested because I'm curious about his health genetics his lineage genetics and most of all his color genetics so hopefully the test would say something but I'll have to wait until we can

Without pictures its a little hard to say, but he could be graying out or there could be a sabino or rabicano gene at work. Especially if he has white spots on his belly, that is pretty typical for sabinos.

My boy didnt start greying out until he was 3. Went from chestnut to grey in a matter of a few years. 😂
