This is the XLB mare I have on my side. At her best, she was #19 XLB. She's now #40 because I haven't tried when breeding in a while

Agreed, weakness creates weakness and its very difficult to breed it out of lines

I've found that weak parents lead to weak foals regardless of rating. Case in point, my X side account which has many WWWs (and actually some XLB mares) because I got a daughter of the #1 X stud during his freshie year when his fee was cheaper. Compared to this account where I just got my first WWW in something like 30 game years and it's because I used the #1 AA stud. I need to get a brood and a TB straw on the high LB to get better foals into my TB lines

I got told that putting my horse that was in pain and uncomfortable down was 'animal abuse'. I got so annoyed that day as it was the day i put him down. He had being with me since he was a foal and he was now 5 (hurt his leg). My mum told me it wasnt abuse and he was in pain and needed to be put down. Of course im going to listen to my mum. so i ignored what other people had to say. Someone 3 days later then said he had a collar round his neck so it choked him? It was a f**king crib collar..
Sorry i had to do this lol

Some non equestrians think they know everything, the collar choked him is probably one of the stupidest things I have ever heard :P

Im so sorry for your loss D:

Iam sorry for your loss!
There is nothing to worry about, if it is better for the horses it was the best choice, i have been around horses for over 30 years and been breeding horses for 15+ years, i had to put a few horses down even foals cause it would have been crule to keep them alive. So dont listen to the others they have no clue. Always do what is best for the animal not for you even if it hurts you. Animals can not tell you what they want to have done so we have to make that choice for themand if there is nothing that can be done for them to not be in pain then putting them down is the best choice we can do.

I had a Mare that had issues in her front legs and was regular lame and in alot of pain, i brought her to 2 vets then to a clinik and they all said there is nothing they can do apart from giving her pain releave. I even got a expert in for alternative medicin he said not even he could do something apart from pain releave and she be never able to be riden again or even used for anything, basicly i could just keep her on a field for the rest of her life she was only 12. Well issue i had was, she hated other animals and horses, she would bite and kick them to blood and bones, she would have to be either stay in a box or all alone on a field away from other animals, as she would also go trough a fence to attack other animals. So i had to choose what is best for her to keep her allive and keep her alone for 15+ years and always be in some kind of pain or let her go. I let her go as it was the right thing.

So what iam trying to say with my little story is ...if you have tried everything possible and looked at every possabilty, at the end the choice is to put the horse down then it is the best choice, yes it hurts like hell to make that choice, but if you done all you could and it had to come that way then you did the right thing for that horse and no one should tell you anything else.

I'm sorry for your loss. About a year ago, my foal (well, not actually mine but I really loved him and visited him as often as I could) had to be put down... I miss him. And we thought Severus (his name) would survive...
