(If this is not allowed I will delete, just wanted to share)So I see lots of other members sharing their stories so I wanted to share the story of out new little mare, Foxie, who I purchased out of the kill pen and this is the newest member of the family. Where I live the kill pens will actually post the horses online and advertise them to rescue groups where they are given a second chance before being shipped out. Originally she was advertised as a 2 year old unhandled mare but once I got her transported home and vetted she was determined to be a 6 year pony-type mare who recently had a foal pulled off her because she was heavily bagged. (I buy out of the kill pens all the time and am currently working with a rescue coordinator to get her weight built back up) Despite her condition she has a admirable spirit, as soon as we unloaded her and into the round pen she jumped a 5 foot panel and got loose in the pasture and pranced away, happy to be free of the cramped muddy pens.
