I've been dealing with the flu all week, that transformed into a bad URI, that caused a lot of asthma to the point I couldn't breathe. I've been in and out of the hospital. Tonight, I finally get home, and find my baby, my sweet Icarus, down at the bottom of her cage. . Icarus is my green cheek conure. My absolute baby that I helped raise and have loved on for years. A cheeky little gremlin that pisses me off and promptly melts my heart again with kisses. . They've sent me to the lobby to wait but I'm genuinely just shaken up, stressed, and an absolute mess. If anybody would be willing to chat, I could really use the comfort. . Edited at August 2, 2026 07:01 PM by Versailles

I hope she is. I really, genuinely do. She is still so young. She did, at least, give the ER doctor a good bite, which is a little more like her. But the way she just immediately fell asleep on me really isn't. . Cadence Farms said: Prayers that you and Icarus feel better. That's a lot to go through! Icarus is so beautiful. Thank you. Icarus is called a "cinnamon turquoise" morph. Her greens shade into blue at the feather tips.

Aww Versa I'm so sorry!! I lost a beloved bird a year ago and I'm forever upset I was too late. I hope so baddly that you got to her on time, she looks like the cutest little mischeif birdie, I hate to imagine the absolute pain and stress you'd be in regardless if she does or doesn't pull through. birds are by far the most scary when they're sick in my opinion, just never know with them. :( I'm absolutely avilable to chat, always.

Today has been seriously the worst fiasco. . Her ER visit last night couldn't pick up on anything specific. They didn't have the team to be able to diagnose problems in birds, so they ended up sending her home with me, closely monitored, and take her to her avian specialist in the morning. . She did okay overnight. Her specific specialist this morning was unavailable so I tried my veterinary clinic's other avian vet. . The malpractice I witnessed was genuinely traumatizing. I have heard noises from my bird that I have never heard before and when I asked this "specialist" to be a little more careful, I was shrugged off. She started to bleed from her nose (which is VERY alarming), and they whisked her away to oxygen. My bird left this "specialist" worse than she arrived. . I went back to the ER. Told the other place to let go of my bird, give her back, and I took her back to the ER within the hour. I have been here five hours. They are keeping her overnight and calling in a ZooMed diagnostic team in the morning specially for her. They suspect she has internal injuries due to malpractice at the other place and I'm going to need them to help with a lawsuit if it turns out to be true. I'm so sorry Versa, hoping Icarus makes a full recovery. That experience with the specialist sounds horrific.
