Hey! So I ripped a 2 pairs of jeans pretty badly last year and didnt bother fixing them. Pinterest gave me a sign to get my ass in gear by introducing me to the world of visible mending, and safe to say I fell in love lol. So today I bought an embroidery hoop, some thicker needles, and LOTS of embroidery... thread? Floss? I dunno chunky thread :P many colors lol.
Ive been sewing since I was a child but kind of a making-it-up-as-I-go-along type thing lol. So armed with maybe half a dozen tutorials and way to much confidence, here goes take 1 of Fixing My Damn Jeans So I Waste Less Money On New Jeans
Or whatever x3

So this hole was kinda a hot mess and had to be trimmed, and I saw someone on Pinterest use mesh as a sort of backing for their design.
I dont have mesh like that BUT a few months ago ya girl had to replace some window screens (because cats) and me being a pack rat, saved some window screen scraps xD I dont know if it'll work well but its going fine so far. And its SO much easier working on the grid rather than freehand xD I intend to try to do my cat surrounded by flowers lol
Any tips / advice welcome<3

I have been sewing for a bit, and I take lessons. I am a fast learner, so I currently am better than my mom who has been sewing since I was born (maybe longer). I recently took up embroidery too, and I am...alright. You sound like you are a natural 💕

Thats kind of me too lol, my mother only knows to sew from her mother while im armed with online tutorials xD
Embroidery is definitely a learning curve for me, and I should probably practice on scrap fabric some more but I think Ive got the basic stitches down :3

Okay, i got some tips for you !! i've been doing hand- embroidery since I was 10 !! ( Im 26 now !)
For your embroidery, make sure to keep the fabric taut in the hoop so your stitches stay even and smooth, and try to use consistent tension—pulling too tight can warp the flowers and details, while too loose makes them look messy. Practice the basic stitches first: backstitch for outlines, satin stitch for filling petals or leaves, and French knots for small details like flower centers. Separate your floss into thinner strands if you want finer details, and work from the center of each flower outward to keep shapes neat. Finally, don’t worry about tiny mistakes—they can add character—but tie off threads cleanly at the back and trim excess so your project looks polished.
This can also be helpful for future project you have, so if you have any questions pm me <3

Thank you! Definitely the hardest part for me is consistent tension lol. Need to practice that some more xD
I did see lady on Pinterest say she separated her floss into 3 strands so I might try that :3
