Croft - do you have an average winning ebs amount per level you cull at? I can't imagine how I would keep track of who was making money before they leveled and who wasnt

I see where you’re combining from, Swanky.
There is a trade off though as Croft is noting. You’re spending more on an entry to make more when they place high.

I don’t like showing lvl 9 geldings even if they win… it’s expensive to show them.

There is a major glitch in this games matrix. I cant sell horses for 500 a piece...talking about eee's. I cant sell them for 1000 at auction, in fact I can't sell them at all. No one looks, no one buys, nada. I am very frustrated with this game for the past 3 years. Its gotten worse and worse. Maybe its just me and a conspiracy to make the old timers quit. I dunno. Ive wrtitten to management and they tell me its all just just fine and normal. I dont find it fine and normal that im breeding since day one of this game and I cant get ahead at all. I can barely breed eee's let alone anything else, I can't sell jack. At a cross roads here and about to call it quits. I love this game I do, but when you make it this miserable for a person who started from day one im not sure why I am hanging around trying.
Off my soap box. Happy Saturday.

The intended main source of income here is showing, you gotta put riders on yours horses and train and show them every week. Selling is supposed to be a secondary, supplementary income.
Since you have premium, you can use the barn manager to hire and assign riders, and show your horses every week, no need to do anything by hand ;)

It's not a glitch. People aren't buying EEE stallions (I looked at your auction) for the same reason you're selling them. Unless they're show geldings they're not really going to be earning a profit.
I'll admit I'm frustrated with RF as well, it sucks to have good matches flop, and it's taken the sparkle out of RO lately, but it's not a conspiracy against anybody. It's just luck.
Maybe try a new breed? My TBs are absolutely awful to me but the RIDs have been very nice lately. Sometimes you just have to switch things up a bit.

yep ive branched out and added two more breeds, still no better. I dont need to geld the one year old eee im selling, you can do that too. Since hes up for 1000 that should be irrelevant. I did the show thing, for many many years. That didnt work either. Perhaps because I had too many horses, i dunno. Really thats not the point. We all want www's. But if eee's cant sell for 1000 apiece, then there is something wrong with the economy of this game. I might not show, but to someone that should be the bargain of the day to stock their show barn. Only it isnt. No one wants them.
Still scratching my head and hoping...

I would turn all EEEs into show horses and just continue to hoard them until you're hitting the show cap every week. Put them to work instead of FRing or selling them for close to nada. They will absolutely earn you money. Showing always works to turn a profit if you do it right.

Showing absolutely works. I showed 350ish horses tonight, and profited nearly 600k. Not earned, profited. It's 100% possible to make money from showing.

Aw cherub you have been far too nice, you said it yourself - too many horses.
**
Set your new goals on front page. Achieve your goals.
Dump 100 2 yr olds straight away (their pixels will be used in new foals). Profits to you.
Empty 2 pastures and set to hay.
Sell 1 pasture.
Set up some of your decentish/multipattered mares for brood/public breeding. Say 25 mares from sales barn, the add to this gradually. Bit boring first time as you have to select them + set the price. Around $2-3000 per EEE mare. But next year it remembers the old price and just click it.
Only breed 25 per project. No more than 100 total. Invest on the breeding, filly straws + best stallion you can afford to breed to. Increase investment as profits allow. I do not mean sven - too expensive.
Only keep 40 yearlings per year (I'm such a hypocrit I keep 50 - but it is too many).
Do pop up riders on your 2 year old foals and train. Maybe start with 100 geldings & girls, don't overthink the choice. In 3 weeks time they will start paying a profit. Increase another 75 yearlings next month. Stick to level 1+2 riders at first as they are the cheapest. Gradualy you can add higher riders as required by horses leveling up.
**
Go for it, own it. I know you have phenominal skills, so very many wins listed on your page.

I glanced through your stable, and almost all your EEEs are selling for 5k+ with no training for the aged horses. No one's going to drop 8k for a 13 year old EEE with no training. Most horses that are EEEs and below are going to be selling for less than 1k. The bottom floor for selling horses hasn't been above 1k since the free range cap was put into place (I used to sell E/W SD geldings for 1.1k a pop). In many cases, it's possible to buy yearlings for less than 200 at the start of the year.

Right now, there's a massive amount of PPP+ horses for sale for 200 and under. For the cost of one of your 5k 2 year olds horses, I can snatch up 5 other EEEs (I can grab more horses if I go with single Es).

A lot of your problem, I suspect, is that all your horses are untrained. This makes it impossible to weed out the weak horses that are dragging your program down. I'd highly recommend putting riders on them to see where their weak areas are.

On a similar note, showing absolutely works. I've built my entire stable on the backs of my show horses. This week's profit (minus show fees and rider fees) was just under 980k.

Right now I'm rebuilding, so I'm buying a bunch of show horses for my string each week. I just passed by a bunch of your sale horses to get to the newborn discards and horses that had training. I know because I wondered who had dumped all these horses on the market with no training and there's several newer stables, but yours stood out because I can see you had great show success in the past.

Basically, if I can see that a player put the minimum effort into paying a rider 100 eb to plop 10 horses on him, then clicking the (free) training button every week the horse is worth more to me. I can see that the PEE is stronger in XC than Jumping. I can see that that EEE is training up nicely as an eventing or dressage or whatever prospect. If you don't want to show, fine. But not training is hurting your sales, too.

I paid 2000 for a PPP with good training who is level 2 already in XC because I know he'll bring in money for me. If I buy a baby, of course it's going to be 5-6 weeks before he places in a show, but I don't feel like putting in ALL the work for someone else by waiting 5 weeks for a 2 year old to be able to win a level one show prize when he should already have 3 or 4 weeks' training under his belt .
