I believe this will be covered up once she does the tail. My suggestion would be to see if you can 'sharpen' the nostril at all. Maybe add more shadows. Right now, the viewer kind of looses it.

Yep! It'll be covered up, I just haven't gotten to the hair yet. Thanks to you both! I'll get working on the nostrils :D

Critique? It's a Star Wars contest entry <3 (Yes, I do know that it doesn't have back legs. That is intentional 😜)

This is a beautiful piece (per usual Sunset). Amazing job with the flames. I do realize that this is a flaming orange pegasus but would stood out to me was the lack of any realism. You have very strong muscles in the face of this horse but not so much on the rest of its body, particularly the chest. Everything is mostly the same color, there isn't really a clear light source or shadows. This kind of strikes me as a negative. Because of the monochomaticness, the horse itself doesn't really stand out compared to the wings and all of the fire. Positives; you most certainly captured 'Phoenix' very well in this piece. There is not a single doubt in my mind about that. Beautiful mane and tail <3

I know nothing about Star Wars (please don't hate, lol), bt the piece look awesome. The detail of the cracking on the horse is awesome and the eye is super pretty. There is no clear light source, but it is adark piece... A faint red or gold glow are the horse would look nice, good work!

Thank you! The intended light source was the lava so I can work on that :)

I've been wanting to do this piece for awhile now, took me about 17-19 hours to complete and there is just so much stuff! If you can't tell it's a unicorn mother with her baby, anyways tell me everything that's wrong! It is an extremally large image!

Man that is a long list of credits! 😜 Even before I saw the full image, I could tell you put a ton of work into this. Absolutely beautiful job with the mother's mane and horn. I would recommend taking a look at her forelock though. It is a bit out of place when compared up against the rest of her hair. Take a look at some pictures of horse faces. Using these, see if you can add some highlights and shadows to the faces based on the skeletal structure of the horse. Right now their faces get a little lost because of all of the dark. Above the head of the mother unicorn, there is almost a strange triangle of shadow that doesn't quite fit. I would reccomend trying to smudge that out. Not sure if this is intentional or not; there seems to be a random string/brush stroke around the foal's neck that also goes over the face. I personally would reccomend removing it if possible. Finally, we don't want vampires. I don't see a reflection of the foal which there should be of its standing in any sort of water. Beautiful scene, I really love the atmosphere of this piece <3
