Noli, exactly!

Stalker, Yeah, but it isn't the customers job to pay an extra amount so that the workers can make a living wage..

Now things are getting crazy with tips, though. Like asking for tips just with regular shopping or whatever
Calela Eventing
Noli Well, the whole point of tipping (atleast over here) is extra support. Usually 25% of a workers earning goes to the company but tips belong to them entirely so its a way of supporting them and appreaciating them.

Yeah a lot of things in the US shouldn't be the way they are, but I digress >.>

We leave a little tip if we've had a meal out, but its definitely not an expectation here. Service workers are paid a normal wage and any tips they get are a nice little bonus. I loved working the Sunday Lunch shift when I worked at a pub briefly because all the old ladies used to tuck fivers into my pockets 🤣

Its only "rude" to not tip in the US because its what service workers make their living off of. If people would just pay them a reasonable wage it wouldnt be needed

Crowley, yeah that is kind of the point why I find it strange. The business should pay them a living wage. It’s not up to the customer to subsidise the business lol

Yeah, I honestly don't get the point of tipping.. Like, just pay the amount you owe then move on, I do see it as a little rude.

Personally I find it odd to imagine buying a service and tipping to make up the employees wage, it’s just… bizarre

Ash that's how it was in Vietnam as well. We once tipped our waiter and he had no idea what to do with the money lol

Cali, it just isn’t expected here. Lots of people I know would find it pretty weird or straight up rude lol

I do get people/service providers a Christmas card and pressie though. Like the lady who does my nails, yard manager etc. get something
